Hiya! My name is Brydie from @bybrydie and I’m so excited to share my make with you. I was gifted the light pink ventana cotton twill by Robert Kaufman from Harriet’s lovely selection of fabrics. I knew instantly what I wanted to make, the Blanca Flight Suit from Closet Core Patterns, which can also be purchased on the site. It’s a semi fitted boiler suit with a zipped front and customizable sleeve and leg lengths, it really doesn’t disappoint!
There are some challenging aspects to make, but if I could give you one piece of advice it would be to toile! Spend your time on the fit, tailor the pattern to your body and you really wont be disappointed.
Of course, Closet Core Patterns really do guide you through the fit in their instructions, especially when it comes to altering the length of the bodice.
I think the twill is such a good choice for the pattern, you get the structure and weight in the garment, but its still thin enough for your machine to enjoy the ride too! Also, it makes the challenging areas, such as the zip, pin tucks and waistband that little bit more manageable as the fabric works with you rather than against. The Robert Kaufman Twill is beautifully soft and I think the shade of pink is so versatile, without looking too sickly.
I’ve really enjoyed working on this project, its been an involved make, but feels all the more better for when you walk outside the front door in the Blanca, feeling like a sewing goddess.
*Brydie was provided the fabric of her choice free of charge for her blog post & she was provided with a £50 voucher as payment for her time*
