General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR)
What is GPSR?
At Sew Me Sunshine we are committed to the highest standards of product safety and customer satisfaction. This is why we comply with the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), Regulation (EU) 2023/988, which will take effect on December 13, 2024. This legislation imposes strict requirements to protect consumers and ensure that all products offered on the European market are safe for use.
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) replaces the older General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC) and introduces new, comprehensive requirements to further enhance the safety of consumer products. The GPSR applies to all products offered on the EU market, both physically and online, and affects manufacturers, importers, distributors, and fulfilment service providers.
The core of the GPSR focuses on:
- Minimising risks for consumers
- Transparent information and warnings for users
- Accountability for product safety across the entire supply chain
- Strengthening traceability and recall procedures
