Helen's Closet Needlecord Yanta Overalls by Chantelle

I do not think there are many garments that are comfier than a good pair of dungarees. I am obsessed with them and have made four different pairs so far. So when I saw the Helen’s Closet Yanta Overalls, I knew I had to put them at the top of my list.
I have been admiring pink dungarees for so long. Harriet has the most beautifully soft Rose stretch needlecord in her shop, so I envisaged that would be a match made in heaven. The colour of the fabric is the prettiest dusky pink that can be teamed with so many other colours to compliment it.

The pattern consists of a short and full length version. It has great pockets which is always important and button down straps. The shape is so relaxed and even though the pattern suggests using an invisible zip, I didn’t need one as I can easily pull them up over my hips. I also topstitched around the edge of the dungarees. I find this keeps the facing hidden a lot better than under stitching most of the time.
The pattern is drafted for someone who is 5”6. I am 5”10 so I added 4.5” to the length of the legs and it is perfect. I made no other adjustments and I love the fit. Everything in the pattern lined up perfectly and was an absolute dream to sew. Corduroy is actually really easy to sew with. It is not too thick and ironed really well.

I decided to use Liberty Tana Lawn facings as I think it looks so PRETTY against the rose pink. I used the cutest Whim Wham buttons and a Kylie and the Machine “yes I made it” label behind the top pocket on the front.

The next pair I make, I want to use tie straps or dungarees clips for a slightly different look. You can also experiment with the pockets or omit them altogether. The Yanta’s would look so cool in denim, linen or a twill fabric too.

I have been wearing my dungarees with Tilly and the Buttons Agnes tops and my Rosa shirt but really it would look great paired with anything.

I genuinely enjoyed everything about the Yanta’s, from making them to wearing them. I thoroughly recommend this pattern!

You can find me on instagram @i_seam_sew_happy_xx. I was provided this fabric free of charge in exchange I wrote this blog post. I chose the fabric, and chose what pattern to use.
