Although I have only just started learning to sew (March this year!) I have caught the sewing bug, and really enjoy dressmaking. When I am not cutting fabric or sewing away I am normally browsing fabric websites and watching lots of sewing vlogs. Through the sewing community I became aware of the Me-Made-May challenge. This challenge was created by Zoe (@sozoblog) 8 years ago, and it aims to encourage people who sew/knit/crochet/refashion/upcycle garments for themselves to wear and love them more. All you have to do is to decide on your own specific challenge so that the month is appropriate and challenging for you. Once you have decided, you can write your pledge on Zoe's page (go check out the page and read other pledges).
This is my pledge:
"I Harriet @sewmesunshine sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '17. I endeavour to wear me-made clothes at least twice a week for the duration of May and I pledge to complete at least 4 new items for my me-made wardrobe by the end of May"
So I was pretty limited to how many times a week I can wear a piece of me-made clothing because I have only recently started dressmaking, and that is why I decided to also make at least 4 new items of clothing by the end of May. I have already started a full circle skirt by @sewoverit in a bold pineapple print from @sewcraftyshop, so this will be my first new piece of clothing for my me-made wardrobe (as long as I sew it correctly!)
I will be updating this page with my progress during the challenge so keep an eye open for further posts. Are any of you taking part in the challenge?
