Pauline Alice Sedavi Dress in Cotton Lawn by Lindsey

I absolutely love Fabric Godmother's line of fabrics. When I was asked to choose a fabric I immediately went to the selection that Sew Me Sunshine stock (it was a difficult decision!).

I hadn't tried one of their cotton lawns before, and I fell in love with this vibrant ditsy print. The quality is absolutely amazing, it's soft yet has a lovely handle. It was easy to cut and presses like a dream.

I'd seen a few versions of the Sedavi dress by Pauline Alice on Instagram and was really keen to try it.
The knife pleats were tricky. I had to go back to the pattern pieces and mark the whole pleat on to get them to work properly, but I don't have much experience with pleats. I always welcome a learning opportunity! I like the elastic detail at the waist, it makes the fit better and it's comfortable at the same time.
I decided to add jumbo ricrac to the neckline and sleeves to give a kitsch prairie look.

I realise that I've accidentally made a spring dress when we're deep into Autumn here in the UK, but sometimes you can't fight inspiration when it strikes. And I've got a shiny new fun dress ready for when spring eventually arrives!

You can find the entire Fabric Godmother fabric collection that we stock here. You can find all our cotton lawn fabrics here.
