Priscilla is a sewing pattern for a top with simple box pleats at the front and back neckline. The neckline, sleeves and hem are finished with bias binding. It is an easy sew with only two pattern pieces. Bias binding adds a wonderful trim to garments! If you haven't learnt to make it before, there's never been a perfect time to learn. The instruction booklet gives step-by-step details on how to make up the bias binding using the fabric you have sewn your garment in. However, for an added pop of colour, you can make up your bias binding in a contrasting fabric from your stash or use shop bought contrasting fabric!
This pattern is perfect for beginners. Whether you are new to sewing, new to African wax prints or both! For more experienced sewers, you'll be able to complete this project in about an hour or so. Pattern matching can be tricky when sewing with wax prints, however, with only 2 pattern pieces, pattern matching is a breeze!
This top has no zips or fastenings. The pattern includes lengthening and shortening lines allowing you to adjust the finished hem to the length of your choice. Note: if lengthening, the pattern may need to be altered so that your finished garment has more 'ease' at the hips. Also, increase the size of the pleats so as to reduce the size of the neckline if necessary.
